Jurgen Klopp says coming back to manage Liverpool is theoretically possible.

Jurgen Klopp, who departed from Liverpool in 2024, indicated that rejoining the club remains an option. Klopp, after a transformative near-decade reign that included Champions League success and the Premier League crown since 1990, now holds roles in a global football capacity with the Red Bull group and as an advisor to Germany's league body.

Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments

Liverpool won the league title under Arne Slot, though countless followers who adore the manager would welcome the notion that he might come back one day. During an extensive chat, he shared with the podcast host: “I stated I won't manage another team in England. Which implies should it be the Reds...yes. It's plausible.”

“At 58 years old, which suggests I might decide later on, who knows. Must I choose now? If so, I wouldn't return. Fortunately, I don’t have to do that. I can just see what lies ahead.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

Questioned regarding the specific conditions would need to occur to bring him back to the touchline, Klopp admitted he was not instantly drawn to such a return. “I'm not entirely sure, I love what I do right now,” he said. “I don't crave being a coach; I avoid standing during downpours for lengthy sessions; I'm glad to skip interviews repeatedly each week or having 10-12 interviews a week.

“I don’t miss the dressing room per se, yet sharing a meal with the players talking freely, I appreciate that. We won a lot of games so there was often great spirits in the building. I can still hear Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh ringing in my ears for example.”

Praise for His Successor

He spoke highly for his successor, crediting him for the tweaks that won the league last campaign. The team has suffered four consecutive matches in every contest after a summer spending spree, yet he dismissed the notion it could be a decline.

“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker in Flo[rian] Wirtz, doubters will be silenced with negative comments. An outstanding player. Ekitike, superb talent. They have a strong well-judged squad. No need for concern about Liverpool, they will be fine.”

Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward

The manager expressed deep feeling regarding the passing of Diogo Jota, a player he signed in 2020, and its impact at the club. Jota died tragically in a road accident with his brother this past summer.

“Can you substitute such an individual? It goes beyond his footballing ability, it’s the guy he was. It's hard to picture the dressing room missing him. I still cannot speak properly regarding this. It was an incredible shock for his teammates too. Nobody at Liverpool might employ it to justify results yet it's the reality. You walk in a dressing room which he filled completely. Handling this on a personal level is difficult. Unbearable.”
